Promoting the circular economy
Sharing, reusing, repairing, and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible all form part of the so-called circular economy whereby the life cycle of products is extended and waste is reduced. Waste is one of the two main focus areas of the ISB Eco Team and Primary is also doing its bit to put these initiatives in practice. Year 2 went to prove that it is never too early to learn and practise recycling. Each child brought a toy or game to school which they no longer played with and swapped it with another classmate's pre-loved toy. The children were also amazed to learn about websites such as Marktplaats where it is possible to pick up toys secondhand for a fraction of the price.

- Waarom zijn jullie hier trots op?: The children were amazed to learn that there existed platforms such as Ebay and Marktplaats. They loved the idea that they could find toys secondhand for a much lower price than buying it new and couldn't wait to share this news with their parents at home.

Green Day
Last Friday the Eco-Team held a "Green Day" at ISB to celebrate us achieving our Bronze Certificate. In order to further raise the profile of the Eco-Team and our goals, ISB Students and Staff were asked to wear something green to school. Everyone was offered an ice cream in recognition of the school's achievement and in keeping with one of this year's focus areas - waste - the lolly stick was kept with a view to recycling for science/craft projects!
- Welke tips wil je andere Eco-teams geven bij het organiseren van een activiteit/evenement?: Give students and staff plenty of advance notice to make the event a success!

Plastic actie op het schoolplein
KRNWTR+ heeft een plastic-actie gehouden (https://www.krnwtr.nl/haalthetbovenwater/) Plastic werd "gedumpt" op het schoolplein en vervolgens gingen we in gesprek over afval.
- Welke tips wil je andere Eco-teams geven bij het organiseren van een activiteit/evenement?: Deze actie werd door een externe georganiseerd. Dat lijkt dan heel makkelijk, maar het was daardoor ook wel veel planning

Ruilbibliotheek
Het EcoTeam wilde een ruilhoek inrichten. Aanvankelijk met verschillende dingen als speelgoed, kleding en boeken. We hebben gekozen om te beginnen met boeken voor kinderen, maar ook volwassenen om ouders meer te betrekken. Eerst is er een oproep gedaan voor (2e-hands) boeken. Tegelijkertijd is er gezocht naar een goede plek. Uiteindelijk is ervoor gekozen om het een onderdeel te maken van onze EcoHoek.
- Welke tips wil je andere Eco-teams geven bij het organiseren van een activiteit/evenement?: Het is een uitgelezen kans om kinderen en volwassenen nieuwe boeken te vinden, maar ook op een nuttige manier van boeken af te komen.
- Onderwijstype: Basisonderwijs
- Waarom zijn jullie hier trots op?: Het is echt complementair aan de EcoHoek en vooral de kinderboeken lopen goed. Vooral uitgaand.

We signed our declaration of intent on the same day as we had our kick off event.
