We can have a two part plan that takes place at South (we can do SE later or if we acquire more people), one centered around reducing the Lost and Found section and one about the Clothes Swap event. Reducing items lost and found: We can try our best to return items to their owners (making the swap later ethical). We can visit primary classes (and ask Eco-Kidz for help), and supply them with labels nearing the end of the day. In this mini workshop we help them label gym shoes, lunchboxes, and maybe even jackets with their name and class. This way receptionists can contact even more parents (they usually do contact if labels are present). AICS Sustainable Closet: Gathering materials: We set up another box near lost and found in which parents and students can throughout the month donate clothes. All the lost and found that has not been claimed by the last Thursday of the month is added to this pile. Event execution: Every last Friday of the Month (This is also popcorn Friday, hence more parents) from 2:50 to 3:30 we host a clothes swap in the area in front of the reception. A fair system (tokens are hard to manage) is each person gets 2 items, one clothing and one miscellaneous object (lunch box, etc. This limit is checked as people exit on a separate counter. We are open to donations that go to the Eco Team budget. Per extra item over the 2 items 1 euro donation is mandatory. This way 1 person can’t take everything, but large families can get more, and most of the items can be rehomed.

  • Waarom zijn jullie hier trots op?: I think this mostly worked, for example, during break time, a large group of MYP2s came to our stands and tried on a lot of things, and one person found a good pair of gym shoes for themselves. They were all having a lot of fun, and although we had to ask them politely to be careful with the folded stuff, we think we accomplished that. Also, one of the caretakers took some clothes to donate to a charity for his hometown which was really nice to see.
