We want to do some “green volunteering” as a whole year group at the most. We want to have the whole year level do an acitivity. This will not only be team building time, nor just an educational experience: it will help the amazing city that most of us live in, which is Amsterdam as a whole due to the fact that a lot of us are situated across it far and wide. We also want our ideal outcome to be impactful, however; for this to be desirable, we want to be able to see the results of our combined efforts. We will be using the organisation - serve the city - to support our idea! According to Serve the City’s webpage, this can involve many diverse activities; the range is quite large, from volunteering at petting zoos to even lending a hand at gardening or organic planting. Other more collaborative endeavours include prospects such as teaming up to clean up: the NDSM-werf, a nearby park (e.g., Rembrantpark, Vondelpark, Beatricepark, etc), or even canals. The service coordinators then arranged the schedule together with the company. After the half day volunteering, the students come back to school to reflect on their activity and share their experiences with their peers. This is also used for MYP service activity.
